Grumpyface Studio is getting into Publishing with Seafrog!

Grumpyface Studios, a development house known for licensed titles such as Steven Universe: Save the Light, Teeny Titans and Castle
Doombad, has officially announced its transition into indie game publishing. The studio’s inaugural project under this new venture is a partnership with Oh My Me Games to relaunch the 2.5D action-platformer, Seafrog.

Strategic Partnership and Publishing Shift
The move into publishing marks a new phase for Grumpyface Studios, which has operated primarily as a developer for 15 years.
According to Chris Graham, Founder and Director at Grumpyface, the decision to publish was driven by a desire to provide better market visibility for “hidden gems” that struggle to gain traction in an increasingly crowded indie software market.
Seafrog:
Seafrog is a 2.5D “skateboard-like” platformer that originally debuted on Steam earlier this year. The game received the Grand Prize at IGN’s 2022 Rogue Jam, judged by a panel including former Nintendo of America President Reggie Fils-Aimé.
Core Mechanics and Content:
Movement System: Players utilize a rocket-powered wrench to navigate environments using mechanics inspired by skateboarding, including grinding, boosting, and wall-riding.
Level Design: Over 100 handcrafted challenges set within a nonlinear Metroidvania structure.
Customization: A “Mod Chip” system featuring 24 collectible components allows players to adjust gameplay difficulty and character stats.
Performance: The title features full controller support and has been optimized for the Steam Deck.

2.0 Update and Future Platforms
The publishing announcement coincides with the release of the Seafrog 2.0 update. This major patch includes:
Comprehensive game balance retooling.
New story segments and musical tracks.
Refined control responsiveness.
While currently exclusive to PC via Steam, Grumpyface Studios confirmed that a Nintendo Switch version is currently in development with a projected release window of Q1 2026.
