LG Launches ultra-light Aerominum Laptops

LG Electronics has introduced its 2026 LG gram laptop lineup ahead of CES 2026, debuting a new proprietary material, “Aerominum,” a high-strength alloy of magnesium and aluminum inspired by materials used in the aerospace industry. LG claims this new composition offers improved scratch resistance and military-grade durability while maintaining a chassis light enough for high mobility.

Dual AI Performance The new models are marketed as “Dual AI” PCs, combining on-device intelligence with cloud-based tools.

  • On-Device AI: Powered by LG’s EXAONE 3.5 small language model, the laptops can handle tasks like document summarization and search without an internet connection.

  • Copilot+ Integration: The devices support Microsoft Copilot+ features, including live subtitle translation and AI image creation.

Key Models and Features

  • LG gram Pro 17: Positioned as the world’s lightest 17-inch RTX laptop, it features an NVIDIA RTX 5050 GPU and 8GB of GDDR7 memory.

  • LG gram Pro 16: Available with Intel Core Ultra or AMD Ryzen AI 400 series processors, it includes a 77Wh battery capable of up to 27 hours of video playback.

  • Enhanced Connectivity: The updated “gram Link” now supports wireless file sharing and screen mirroring across Android, iOS, and LG’s webOS (allowing integration with LG TVs and monitors).

  • Security: A new “Secure Lock” feature allows users to remotely disable the system and reset the OS if the laptop is lost or stolen.
