Devices with 3D AI ‘Companions’ are here – Lepro A1

Lepro has officially announced the Lepro AI Companion A1. This device aims to bridge the gap between technology and emotional support, offering a personalized 3D companion that senses, learns, and reacts to its users.

According to the Lepro proactive companionship they are using a suite of multimodal sensors – including face recognition, gesture detection, and even heart-rate sensing – they claim device can monitor a user’s emotional and physical state to adapt its tone and responses in real time.

A Digital Friend

The hardware itself is designed to make digital characters feel “present” in the room. The A1 features:

  • Curved OLED Display: Provides a 3D avatar

  • Augmented Reality (AR) Integration: A rear-facing camera blends the digital avatar with the user’s real-world environment.

  • Tactile Interaction: Beyond voice, the screen includes “mapped touch zones,” allowing users to interact through physical gestures like taps or swipes.

Deep Personalization and Privacy

Lepro is leaning heavily into customization, allowing users to define not just the look of their avatar, but its voiceprint, personality traits, and even a fictional backstory.

Recognizing the sensitivity of a device that monitors biometrics, Lepro has integrated “Trust by Design” features. The A1 utilizes local data processing to keep information off the cloud, and includes physical shutters for both the microphone and camera to ensure user

Wellness?

Lepro is positioning AI  as a wellness tool as much as a personal assistant. They claim it can track emotional trends and daily routines, it can initiate stress-relief dialogues, guide users through breathing exercises, or offer proactive “check-ins” based on observed patterns.

“A1 understands user emotion, adapts to real-time context, and engages with human-like warmth,” the company stated, signaling a shift toward AI that prioritizes “emotional presence” over simple task execution.
