iPhone 17e Everything you need to know

Apple announced the launch of the iPhone 17e, a new entry-level addition to its smartphone lineup. Positioned as a more accessible option, the device introduces several hardware internal upgrades while maintaining a familiar physical design and a starting price of $599.
Performance and Connectivity
The iPhone 17e is powered by the A19 chip, which features a 6-core CPU and a 4-core GPU. According to Apple, this silicon provides a performance boost over previous entry-level models and supports hardware-accelerated ray tracing.
A notable addition to the internal specifications is the C1X modem, Apple’s latest in-house cellular chip. The company claims this modem offers up to twice the speed of the C1 modem found in the previous generation while improving energy efficiency. For the first time in the “e” series, the device also includes MagSafe support, allowing compatibility with magnetic chargers and accessories, though charging is limited to 15W compared to the higher speeds found on flagship models.
Design and Display
The device retains a 6.1-inch Super Retina XDR OLED display. While some rumors suggested a transition to the “Dynamic Island,” the official specifications confirm the retention of the notch for the front-facing camera and Face ID sensors. The front of the phone is protected by “Ceramic Shield 2,” which Apple states offers three times better scratch resistance than previous iterations. The iPhone 17e is available in three finishes: Black, White, and a new Soft Pink.
Camera and Features
The camera system remains a single-lens configuration on the rear, featuring a 48MP Fusion camera. This sensor uses pixel cropping to enable a 2x Telephoto option, effectively offering two focal lengths from a single lens. It supports 4K Dolby Vision video recording at up to 60 fps and includes “Spatial Audio” recording for use with AirPods or Apple Vision Pro.
Software and Availability
The iPhone 17e ships with iOS 26, which introduces a “Liquid Glass” design aesthetic and expanded Apple Intelligence capabilities, such as Live Translation and enhanced visual intelligence for on-screen content.
Base storage has been doubled to 256GB, up from the 128GB found in the previous generation. Pre-orders for the iPhone 17e are scheduled to begin in Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Japan, Malaysia, Mexico, South Korea, Türkiye, the UAE, the UK, and the U.S on Wednesday, March 4, with official in-store availability and shipping starting on March 11, 2026.
