In a recent interview at the Audible x Bobiverse Activation at Fan Expo Canada, the author, Dennis E. Taylor, behind the Bobiverse series provided clarity on the future of the franchise, potential screen adaptations, and what fans can expect after the upcoming conclusion of the main story arc.

Is the Bobiverse Ending with Book 7?

The most pressing question for the community has been the status of the series. Dennis confirmed that the seventh book will indeed serve as the conclusion to the current sequential, historically continuous arc of the Bobiverse.

“The seventh book is the end of the series,. Now that doesn’t mean it’s the last Bobiverse book. It just means it’s the last book in the sequential historical progression of the series.”

The seventh installment is set to tackle the series’ biggest challenge yet: the imminent destruction of the galaxy. While it promises to ‘resolve’ major storylines and introduce new technological innovations, it is designed to provide a satisfying endpoint for readers.

Future History: While a fan-suggested idea about the years between Bob’s death and his revival was discussed, he noted it might feel “too close to home” for now, though it remains a possibility for the future.

Casting the Bobiverse: Live Action vs. Animation

When asked about a potential screen adaptation, the Dennis was clear: live action is the preferred format. The challenge, of course, is casting a lead capable of playing multiple, distinct versions of the same character. Dennis pointed to Tatiana Maslany’s performance in Orphan Black as the gold standard for this kind of versatility.
During a rapid-fire casting discussion, we weighed in on several high-profile actors:

Ryan Reynolds: Praised for his ability to break the fourth wall and his irreverent, ad-libbing style, which aligns perfectly with Bob’s personality. However, the Dennis questioned whether he could convincingly differentiate between multiple characters without just playing “Ryan Reynolds.”
Chris Evans: Described as an underappreciated actor with the dramatic range to pull off the role, though he joked Evans would need to shave his beard.
