Amazon MGM Studios Signs ‘Culpables’ Author Mercedes Ron to Major First-Look Deal

Amazon MGM Studios has formalized its highly successful partnership with global bestselling author Mercedes Ron by signing her to an exclusive, worldwide first-look deal.
Dubbed the “House of Ron,” the collaboration expands on a relationship that has already delivered some of Prime Video’s most-watched International Original films. The Spanish-language Culpables trilogy (Culpa Mía, Culpa Tuya, Culpa Nuestra) has surpassed 100 million views globally. The franchise’s success recently triggered English-language UK adaptations, including My Fault: London and Your Fault: London, with the third installment, Our Fault: London, having wrapped production earlier this year.
The announcement, made by Nicole Clemens, VP and Head of UK and International Originals at Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios, comes during a week where adaptations of Ron’s books occupy half of Prime Video’s Top 10 most-watched original films worldwide.
Under the new multi-series agreement, Ron will serve as an executive producer on all current and future adaptations of her work. The deal also grants her the opportunity to pitch intellectual property from other authors to Amazon MGM Studios for potential screen adaptations.
“Mercedes Ron is an extraordinary talent whose stories have captured the hearts and imaginations of fans around the world,” Clemens said at a media event in Los Angeles. “Bringing Mercedes’ characters to life on Prime Video has been one of the most thrilling creative partnerships we’ve had, and we’re just getting started.”
The “House of Ron” pipeline includes several upcoming projects across different regions:
-
The Dímelo Trilogy: Following last year’s release of Tell Me Softly (Dímelo bajito), Prime Video has committed to the second and third installments.
-
Drawn Together (Marfil’s duology): The next film adaptation is scheduled to launch on Prime Video on September 9.
-
30 Sunsets to Fall in Love (30 sunsets para enamorarte): Currently in development by the U.S. Amazon MGM Studios team, this project will mark the first American adaptation of Ron’s work.
“Working with the Prime Video and Amazon MGM Studios family to bring my stories to the screen has been an incredible partnership,” Ron said. “I look forward to bringing more of my stories to life for readers around the world through this continued collaboration.”
The announcement precedes Obsessed Fest, a Prime Video fan event in Los Angeles featuring appearances by Ron alongside Your Fault: London stars Asha Banks and Matthew Broome.
Mercedes Ron has sold more than 6 million books worldwide, with her work translated into 26 languages across 50 countries. Her next novel, Drawn Together (the first book in the Marfil duology), is scheduled for publication on August 4. Ron is represented by WME and Johanna Castillo and Tom Ishizuka at Writers House Literary Agency.
