The Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Open Beta Weekend 2 goes live this weekend, opening the floodgates to all players across PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Steam, Battle.net, and Nintendo Switch 2.

Modern Warfare 4 Open Beta Weekend 2 Start Time & Schedule

Pre-loading for Weekend 2 is currently live across all major platforms. You can download the client ahead of time to start playing immediately when the servers go live.

• Beta Start Time: Friday, August 28 at 10:00 AM PT / 1:00 PM ET

How to Pre-Load the MW4 Beta on PC, Console & Switch 2

PlayStation 5

1. Launch the PlayStation Store.

2. Search for “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Beta”.

3. Select Download to add the client to your home screen.

Xbox Series X|S & Xbox on PC

1. Open the Xbox Store.

2. Search for “Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 Beta” and select Install.

3. Note for Xbox on PC users: Pre-loading initiates a smaller initial setup file; the main download patch goes live on Friday, August 28 at 7:00 AM PT.

PC (Steam & Battle.net)

• Steam: Navigate to the Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 store page, click Play Now, and the beta client will automatically populate in your Steam Library.

• Battle.net: Open the Battle.net launcher, select Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4, pick the Beta version from the dropdown menu, and select Install.

Weekend 2 brings expanded player progression up to Level 30, along with several franchise firsts for a Call of Duty Beta test.

1. First-Ever Playable Campaign Mission: “Entrenched”

For the first time in Call of Duty history, a main campaign mission is playable during the beta. Players drop into “Entrenched,” fighting alongside allied infantry and armor to prevent the destruction of a critical nuclear power station.

2. The Mobility Course Proving Ground

A dedicated interactive hub designed to train players on Modern Warfare 4’s overhauled movement and traversal mechanics. It features guided tutorials and timed obstacle courses where players can refine movement speed and weapon accuracy.

3. Create a Class Overhaul & Apex Attachments

• Level 4 Unlock: Create a Class unlocks at Level 4, allowing up to 12 custom loadouts.

• Loadout-Bound Operators: Operators are now attached per custom loadout slot rather than globally across your account.

• Apex Attachments: Fully leveling up supported weapons unlocks Apex Attachments—unique gear modifications that add combat traits without taking up standard attachment slots.

• Gunny Recommendations: An integrated build tool that generates optimized loadout recommendations based on your current unlocked attachment pool.

MW4 Open Beta Rewards (Levels 1 to 30)

All cosmetic items unlocked during the Open Beta will automatically carry over to the full game at launch on October 23, 2026 (or October 16 for Campaign Early Access).
